The Everest View Trek is one of Nepal's most accessible high-altitude treks. It takes you into the Khumbu region without requiring a long or technical route. The program begins and ends in Kathmandu, making it easy to plan and combine with other travel.
You fly to Lukla from Ramechhap, cutting travel time significantly. From Lukla, the trail descends to Phakding and then climbs steadily to Namche Bazaar at 3,440 m. Namche serves as the main base for the Everest short trek and provides all necessary facilities.
The highlight of the trek is the acclimatization hike to Hotel Everest View at 3,880 m. From this vantage point, you get direct views of Mt. Everest and neighboring peaks, including Ama Dablam, Lhotse, and Nuptse. The hotel sits above the Syangboche airstrip and offers one of the most dramatic mountain panoramas in the world.
The return route follows the same path back to Lukla. You then fly back to Ramechhap and drive to Kathmandu. A free day in Kathmandu allows time to rest, explore the city, or shop for souvenirs before final departure. The full Everest View Trek program runs over 8 days and suits people of varying fitness levels.

You arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu at 1,400 m / 4,593 ft. A representative meets all arriving guests and assists with luggage and transfers. The group then moves to the hotel for check in and rest.
Kathmandu is the capital city of Nepal and the gateway to all major Himalayan treks. The city sits in a broad valley surrounded by green hills. You have the evening free to explore the local area. The trek coordinator provides a pre-departure briefing on the program schedule and essential gear.
The group departs Kathmandu early by private vehicle for Ramechhap, located at 474 m / 1,555 ft. The drive takes approximately 4 to 5 hours, depending on road conditions.
From Ramechhap, you board a short flight to Lukla at 2,845 m / 9,334 ft. The flight takes roughly 20 minutes and offers stunning aerial views of the Himalayan foothills. Lukla is home to Tenzing-Hillary Airport, known for its short, sloped runway and dramatic mountain setting. It is a popular entry point to start the Everest Treks.
From Lukla, the trail heads downhill through small settlements and terraced farmland. You follow the Dudh Kosi River valley on a well-marked path through pine and rhododendron forests. After crossing several wooden bridges, the trail reaches Phakding at 2,610 m / 8,563 ft. The village sits on the east bank of the Dudh Kosi River and offers comfortable teahouse accommodation. You rest here for the night.
Today's walk takes approximately 3 hours and covers gentle terrain. It is a suitable introduction to trekking in the Everest region. The descent from Lukla to Phakding helps the body begin adjusting to the altitude before climbing to Namche Bazaar.
You depart Phakding after breakfast and head north toward Namche Bazaar. The trail follows the Dudh Kosi River and crosses multiple suspension bridges hanging above the fast-flowing water below. These bridges are a defining feature of the Khumbu region and provide access to the steep forested slopes on either bank.
The trail passes through several small villages, including Monjo and Jorsalle. Jorsalle is the last village before the steep climb to Namche and also the entry point to Sagarmatha National Park. You must show their permits here before continuing. The national park protects a large area of highland forest, glaciers, and high-altitude wildlife.
Beyond Jorsalle, the trail descends briefly to the Dudh Kosi riverbank before beginning a steep 600-meter climb through dense forest. The ascent takes about 2 to 3 hours and demands steady effort. On clear days, you catch their first glimpse of Mt. Everest from a ridge just before reaching Namche Bazaar.
Namche Bazaar sits in a natural amphitheater at 3,440 m / 11,286 ft. It is the largest settlement and trading center in the Khumbu region. The town is often called the Sherpa capital and offers a wide range of lodges, restaurants, shops, and services. You check in to their teahouse and enjoy a hot meal. Today's walk takes approximately 5 to 6 hours.
The morning hike leads uphill from Namche to Hotel Everest View at 3,880 m / 12,730 ft. The trail climbs steadily through open terrain with wide views of the nearby peaks. The ascent takes about 1.5 hours from Namche. Hotel Everest View is recognized as one of the highest hotels in the world and has served you and mountaineers for decades.
From the hotel, you enjoy unobstructed views of Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Ama Dablam, and Thamserku. The panorama is among the finest in the entire Khumbu region. You can relax at the hotel, enjoy a hot beverage, and take photographs before descending. The hike down to Namche takes approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour.
The afternoon in Namche Bazaar is free for sightseeing. You can visit the Sherpa Culture Museum, browse local shops, or walk around the market area. The museum provides background on the history, traditions, and mountaineering achievements of the Sherpa people. Namche also has several bakeries, gear shops, and internet cafes.
You depart Namche Bazaar after breakfast and begin the return journey to Lukla. The trail retraces the earlier route, descending through Jorsalle, Monjo, and Phakding before climbing back up to Lukla. The walk covers the same riverside paths and suspension bridges as the ascent but in reverse order.
The descent is generally easier than the upward climb, but you should remain careful on steep and uneven sections of the trail. The terrain is rocky in parts, and wooden bridges can be slippery in wet conditions. Proper footwear and trekking poles are recommended for this section of the route.
After passing through Phakding, the trail climbs steadily back up to Lukla at 2,845 m / 9,334 ft. You arrive in the late afternoon and check in to a teahouse. The evening is free to rest, pack gear, and prepare for the early morning flight the following day. Today's walk takes approximately 5 to 6 hours and marks the final day on the trail of the Everest View Trek.
You take an early morning flight from Lukla to Ramechhap at 474 m / 1,555 ft. The flight lasts approximately 20 minutes. Weather conditions in the mountains can change quickly, so an early departure helps avoid delays caused by afternoon clouds as well as winds. All luggage must be ready before the first flight window opens.
At Ramechhap's Manthali Airport, the group boards private vehicles for the drive back to Kathmandu. The road journey takes approximately 4 to 5 hours, depending on traffic and road conditions. The route passes through rural landscapes, river valleys, and small roadside towns before reaching the Kathmandu Valley.
You enjoy a full free day in Kathmandu. The city offers cultural and historical attractions within easy reach of the main hotel areas. Most major landmarks are accessible by taxi, rickshaw, or on foot. You can use this day to relax, shop for souvenirs, or visit places of interest across the Kathmandu Valley.
Popular sites in Kathmandu include Pashupatinath Temple, one of the most sacred Hindu temples in Asia. Boudhanath Stupa is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the largest Buddhist stupas in the world. Swayambhunath, also known as the Monkey Temple, sits on a hilltop and offers panoramic views of the city. Patan Durbar Square is another heritage site featuring ancient palaces, temples, and courtyards.
If you are interested in shopping, you can explore Thamel, the main tourist district, which is filled with stores selling trekking gear, Nepali handicrafts, thangka paintings, and traditional clothing. The area also has a wide variety of restaurants serving both local and international food. You should keep hotel receipts and trek permits as these are sometimes requested at the airport during departure.
You check out of the hotel and transfer to Tribhuvan International Airport for their outbound flights. Transfer timing is arranged based on individual flight schedules. The trek coordinator ensures all guests reach the airport with adequate time for check-in and security procedures.
